Hi, I am Arthur Tymos and it’s my pleasure to serve as President & CEO of Creation Technologies.  I’m a Christ-follower, husband, father, leader, learner, teacher, vision- and goal-oriented strategic thinker on a journey to unleash my full leadership potential.

My loving wife Judy is my best friend, a great supporter, and a wonderful partner in our life journey together.  We met at church, got to know each other while playing in the orchestra (she played flute and I played alto sax) and were married in November, 1984.  Judy and I are blessed with three amazing young-adult children, Brittany, Nathan and Matthew, who are doing their part to make a difference in the world.

This blog is about Life, Learning and Leadership and you should typically expect one to three posts a week.

Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, I have lived in the Vancouver area all my life.  There is something about the ruggedness and majestic beauty of the mountains and the ocean that I love and every chance I get I head to the mountains or ocean.  Our family is blessed with a view from our home that includes both.

I love to build things.  As a young boy, I built toy boats using tools and scrap materials my father brought home for me.  In my teenage years, I designed and developed a workshop and built some of my own furniture.  During my working career, I have appreciated the opportunity to create and/or grow businesses or units.  I also enjoy developing land and helping to build churches.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said:

“Rings and jewels are not gifts, but apologies for gifts.  The only true gift is a portion of thyself.”

My goal is to share a portion of my Life, Learning and Leadership with you through this blog.  I invite you to participate by sharing your thoughts through the comment feature associated with each blog post.  My hope and prayer is that by sharing together, your life and the lives of others will be enriched.

Periodically when being introduced to speak publicly, someone will read portions of my formal bio.  As it is read, I can’t help thinking “Who is this guy?”  While I still consider myself young (50 is the new 30 you know), I have been blessed with many opportunities and experiences.  So, for your reading pleasure (or to cure insomnia), here is my formal bio:

As Creation Technologies’ President & CEO, Arthur’s passion around enriching lives is evident in Creation’s people-centered culture.  Originally joining Creation as Chief Operating Officer in 2001, Arthur was promoted to President in 2002 and assumed additional responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer in 2006.

Arthur has over 30 years of leadership experience with emphasis on executive leadership, manufacturing, information technology, operations, marketing and finance.

After serving in a variety of marketing, finance and corporate roles with BC TEL, Arthur was appointed Treasurer of BC TEL and BC TELECOM Inc. in 1993.  He became General Manager of BC TEL Communications Systems in 1995 and became Vice President & General Manager in 1998, with additional responsibility for Public Communications Services and Telecom Leasing Canada.  Later in 1998, he was appointed Vice President & General Manager of BC TEL’s new International Wholesale division.  Following the merger of BC TEL and TELUS, from 1999 through 2001, Arthur served as Vice President & Chief Information Officer for TELUS Corporation.

An avid learner, Arthur graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with an Honours Diploma in Financial Management in 1980 and was the recipient of a number of scholarships and academic awards.  He obtained his professional accounting designation as a Certified General Accountant in 1983.  Arthur graduated from the Advanced Management Program in Telecommunications at the University of Southern California in 1993 and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business in 1994.

Arthur has served on Creation Technologies’ Board of Directors since 2001 and previously served as a director and/or officer for various organizations including Director for the Fraser Health Authority, Director for Telecom Leasing Canada (TLC) Inc, President and Director for BCMP Real Estate Corporation and Vice President and Director for BCT Risk Management Inc.

Over the years, Arthur has held memberships in a variety of professional organizations including the Certified General Accountants Association, the Canadian Information Processing Society, the Conference Board of Canada, the Financial Executives Institute and the Vancouver Board of Trade.

A passionate believer in the importance of making a difference through community service, Arthur is involved with various charitable organizations including current volunteer leadership roles at Sonrise Church.
