Discovering Life, Learning and Leadership

What do you think, “Is social media a fad or the biggest communication shift since the industrial revolution?”  Watch this video to find out:

Here are a few highlights from the video:

  • 96% of Millennials have joined a social network
  • Facebook added over 200 million users in less than a year
  • If Facebook were a country, it would be the world’s 3rd largest
  • United States Department of Education study revealed that online students out performed those receiving face-to-face instruction
  • 80% of companies use social media for recruitment and, of these, 95% use LinkedIn
  • YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world

As those of you connected with me via social-networking already know, in recent weeks I have been enjoying participating in Creation Forums (communication sessions with our Creation Technologies people in groups of 50 to 100 people).  The input and discussion at these forums has been interesting and I am looking forward to meeting with all of our Creation family by the end of April.  Thank you to Pat Ciriacks for his help in preparing the Creation Forum materials and to Raegan Gibb for his technical assistance.

Using a wireless audience response system, during our Creation Forums we have been gathering input on the types of social media being used by Creation people.  It is amazing to see that a high percentage of our people are actively using social media.  The revolution is well underway!

If you are a leader, you should be learning about and using social media.
